Our 12V Inverters are powerful little beasts. They can power up to 15m of EL Wire from a 12V source, such as your car, motorcycle, or inside your PC, rather than requiring 2 AA batteries.

This makes them perfect for long-term / fixed installations as you can just plug in and leave. It's also good for portable projects where you want to have a big battery pack like a 8xAA holder which will last 4-5 times longer than just 2xAA's. It is also more powerful, and can drive three times as much EL as the 2xAA inverter! Another nice thing about this inverter is it's a potted brick, so its quieter than the 'open' inverters with a switch.

Our EL wire comes in a variety of colours and lengths. We also have El Wire Inverters available which power the wire from two AA Batteries.

EL Wire is like a long glow stick that is powered by batteries, through an 'Inverter'.


The inverter is a separate product (get one here), however you will typically need one inverter for each piece of EL wire you want to power (unless you want to do some wiring yourself and hook up several wires in parallel from the single inverter). The inverter has multiple modes like always-on, slow flash, fast flash and off.


The diameter of the EL wire is 2.3mm

EL Wire requires a power source in order to turn on. If you are wanting to use EL Wire on the go, such as on a costume or in a situation where connecting up a 12V power supply is not easy/feasible, these small Inverters are the perfect solution. The inverter comes with a connector designed to plug straight into our EL Wire.

Please note, all inverters (including ours) make a low volume humming noise. Some people notice it more than others, it depends on your hearing.
